Arban's Entanglement with Novel Valve Systems

Activity: External performance, talk or presentationTalk for a mainly non-academic audience (e.g. for the general public, community or industry)

Description

Jean Baptiste Arban worked closely with several Parisian instrument makers, notably Adolphe Sax, Antoine Courtois, François Sudre, and François Millereau. Among surviving instruments are several with various elaborations of the double principle valve system whose inscriptions indicate the involvement of the engineer Bouvet, and in other instances, the Marseille maker Daniel. This short statement provides an overview of these models, related patents, and probes the involvement of Arban in their development.
