Description
Gob Squad Arts Collective make performances and videos which search for beauty in the everyday and look for words of wisdom from passing strangers.Gob Squad have 7 core members working collaboratively on concept, direction and performance with other guest artists, performers and technicians invited to collaborate on particular projects.
On Thursday 9 August, National Theatre Scotland are presenting Gob Squad’s internationally acclaimed production Super Night Shot in Glasgow, the show’s first outing in Scotland, before they hand over the reins to the National Theatre of Scotland and a new Scottish ensemble of artists, who will realise the project in different locations across Scotland over the next few years.
Super Night Shot is Gob Squad’s most widely toured production with nearly 200 unique presentations since the project’s inception in 2003.
In Super Night Shot the city becomes a film set, cigarette butts, graffiti, cars and buildings become props and facades and every passer-by is a potential extra. The 4 performers (armed only with video cameras) set out to capture a great moment of emotion, passion and liberation and bring it back to the waiting audience who themselves take part in the final scene of the film.
In this workshop, the company will work with participants to generate a video aesthetic and look at methods of public interactive participation used in the show.
This workshop, offers a unique insight into the collaborative and improvisational strategies that Gob Squad use when creating and performing Super Night Shot, to inspire the practice of artists in Scotland.
