The ‘Scottish Soprano’ and the ‘Voice of Scotland’: the Importance of Nationality to Flora Woodman and Robert Wilson

Description

Article submitted to History Scotland [magazine].
This topic, looking at two professional singers for whom their Scottish nationality was very important,  emerged somewhat tangentially after the research that went into my recently-published book on amateur music-making and Scottish national identity.
NOTE: The magazine is soon going to discontinue, but this article has nonetheless been accepted for the Spring 2025 issue. I am assured it will definitely be published then.
