Biography

Keyboard Lecturer

Edward Cohen is a first class graduate of the Royal Academy of Music and holds two MMus degrees with Distinction from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. His principal teachers have included Aaron Shorr, Kathryn Stott, and André Watts. Winner of the Conservatoire’s most prestigious prizes in solo and chamber music performance, including the Governor’s Keyboard Recital Prize and the Piano Accompaniment Prize, Edward now holds a position as part-time lecturer and staff accompanist.

Edward has performed as soloist across three continents in numerous major festivals such as the BBC Proms, Lucerne Festival, and the Chopin Symposium in the USA. His concerto appearances have included Richard Strauss’ ‘Burleske’ with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Beethoven’s ‘Choral Fantasy’ with the Edinburgh Pro Musica Orchestra and Royal Choral Union, and de Falla’s Harpsichord Concerto with the Lucerne Festival Academy Ensemble.

A keen chamber musician, he regularly appears with Daniel’s Beard, the Artisan and Beinn Artair Trios, and the Barony and Beresford Ensembles. Additionally, he is the pianist for the chorus and junior chorus of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

Edward has recorded several CDs and his playing has been broadcast on BBC Television and Radio, Schweizer Radio DRS, Radio France and National Public Radio in the USA.
