Biography
Born in Edinburgh, self taught fiddler, composer and educator Marie Fielding, began learning fiddle at the age of 11, at home, playing along to records and the radio. WIth a family history of Scottish and Irish roots, Marie has always been drawn to learning and sharing music by ear. Her music is often on Radio Scotland, Radio Nan Gael and television. Many of Marie's compositions have won awards as well as commisions. Marie has self published 4 tune books and self produced 4 albums.
Marie's travels have taken her all over the Uk and abroad, performing, teaching and learning. In her early career, Marie specialised in Creativity with under 5s, for Falkirk Council before taking on a role with R.C.S. Initially this was as Fiddle tutor before moving into Performance and Fiddle. Marie promotes uniqueness in her students, health and wellbeing, as well as pushing boundaries of abilty to achieve beyond goals.
Other roles have included Scottish Arts Council Assessor (Creative Scotland), panel member for Dundee Music Awards, Live Music Now, National Mod and many other competiton panels.
Marie is a fully trained Mentor, for TRACS.
Other interests include paining, ceramics, photography, story writing, gardening nd swimming.
