Spanish clarinettist Maximiliano Martín is rapidly establishing himself as one of the most exciting and charismatic musicians of his generation. Born in Tenerife, Martin studied in Barcelona and at the Royal College of Music in London. His teachers include Richard Hosford, Robert Hill and Joan Lluna. After being appointed Principal Clarinet of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and winning the Young Artists Platform Competition, Martín has since made debuts at the Wigmore Hall London, Queens Hall Edinburgh, Palau de la Musica Catalana and Teatro Monumental in Madrid.As a soloist Martín has performed all the major concertos with orchestras such as SCO, EUCO, OST under the baton of Bruggen, Manze, Antonini, Swensen, Grazioli and McGegan. He has enjoyed collaborations with London Winds, Moonwinds Ensemble, Doric String Quartet, and with other artists such as Alexander Janiczek, Pekka Kuusisto, Artur Pizarro, Paul Meyer, Paul Lewis and Christian Zacharias.
He has performed in the most important concert halls and international festivals with orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Halle Orchestra, Orquesta de Cadaques, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and work with conductors like Abbado, Haitink, Mackerras, Marriner, Krivine, Berglund, Oramo and Swensen.
Martin has recorded for Linn Records his debut album “Fantasía”, the Mozart Clarinet Concerto with the SCO and Messiaen Quartet for the end of time with Hebrides Ensemble. He has also recorded the Nielsen Clarinet Concerto with SCO for BBC Radio 3. He launched his new album this year at the RSAMD which includes music by Weber, Rabaud, McCabe, Widor, Romero and Yuste. Future projects include Mozart, Weber and Brahms Quintets with Doric Quartet at the East Neuk ,Weber Concerto No. 2 with SCO and recitals with Scott Mitchell.
