Biography
Scott Johnson was previously a tutor at the Conservatoire du Kremlin-Bicêtre, Paris and also at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama(GSMD), London. He studied voice at the GSMD under David Pollard, graduating in 1997 and subsequently completed a PGCE and MA (graduating with Distinction) at London University, Institute of Education. He taught music in a secondary school for several years, and for 11 years was also organist and Director of Music at a parish church in Essex.
Attracted by the collegiate nature of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and by the many innovative and vibrant events taking place inside the institution, Scott is now a full-time Lecturer in Vocal Studies at RCS. He works as a principal study tutor and teaches classes in vocal pedagogy and performance; beyond this he maintains a passionate interest in current and historical pedagogical perspectives on vocal performance, including an interest in the role that technology may have to play in enhancing training for singers.
Scott has adjudicated at several competitions and music festivals and is a regular summer school tutor, previously at AIMS, now at the Royal Conservatoire.
