Steven Anderson is an artist who makes site-responsive live art performances. Steven is a project specific lecturer in Contemporary Performance Practice and an artist mentor with the Art Programme of the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice. He has a MFA with distinction from Duncan of Jordanstone Collage of Art and Design, Dundee, a BA(Hons) in Fine Art from Glasgow School of Art and a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Arts Education from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Steven is responsible for delivering the Arts in Medical Contexts choice module which he co-designed with artist Kirsty Stansfield. He is an artist mentor on the Into The New module with Level 4 CPP students.
During two maternity cover positions of Lecturer in Visual Performance, Steven has been responsible for the co-ordination of CPP Level 1 students and the delivery of the modules; Introduction to Aesthetics and Design, Level 1 and Site Specific Performance, Level 4.
Through Steven’s work as an artist he practically researches interrelated themes;
Site responsive live art in gallery and museum spaces, embodied performance action in response to museum artefacts, interpretation and translation of objects into performance action, performance alongside and for historic human specimens, emotive traditional song forms as ephemeral artefact.
Collaborative performance in medical environments, mentoring hospice patients to make personally motivated performance action which is focused in the present, the performance of institutional behaviours, performance as ways of taking space in a medical environment.
