In October 2025 Jess Thorpe will visit Uruguay for a 10-day collaboration with artist and academic Sabrina Speranza and her theatre company, Descentrada Escena. This visit follows their shared interest in co-creating performance with incarcerated young people. Jess will assist in the final production week of Sabrina's project within a prison in Uruguay. Additionally, she will run a workshop with drama students at Escuela Multidisciplinaria de Arte Dramático Margarita Xirgu (EMAD) focusing on creative processes for working with young people in the criminal justice system. This collaboration will culminate in a joint academic paper exploring co-creating performance in different cultural contexts, fostering international dialogue and long-term collaboration.
