In 1781, John Callander tabled his Proposals for publishing by subscription - A General History of Scottish Music, seeking subscriptions and assistance from fellow members of the newly-founded Society of Antiquaries of Scotland. The sole copy of the four-page document survives in the National Library of Scotland.
