Mikrokosmos serves as a comprehensive pedagogical tool for young pianists, as well as a showcase for Bartók's musical innovations. The collection consists of six volumes and is structured in a progressive manner, beginning with simple pieces and gradually increasing in difficulty. Each volume explores different technical and musical aspects, such as scales, chords, rhythm, and form.

7 movements in "Mikrokosmos" for are transfigured for violin duo and string orchestra, and is done in a manner to suit the idiomatic qualities of string instruments. My thanks to Huixin Hu for her collaboration and input in developing this work.
