Early 19th-Century Music Scores: a Mixed Reception in Georgian Scottish Libraries

Research output: Contributions to conferencesPaperpeer-review

Details

A talk about some of the historical music collections that I’ve been researching. My main point is that “book history” and “library history” should encompass scores as well as books – despite their differences – because of the sheer amount of cultural history that they represent.
I discuss various kinds of collections - from personal collections of tunes, to library collections - leading into a discussion of the value of these collections in terms of cultural history, and an introduction to the AHRC-funded Claimed From Stationers' Hall music research network.
