A reading of the play 'Pahnutius' by Hrotsvit (Birch (dir), held as part of an interdisciplinary international symposium on the playwright at the University of Hull organized by Professor Katharine Cockin on 31st May 2014 to mark the centenary of a 1914 production by the Pioneer Players directed by Edith Craig. Birch directed 'Pahnutius' as a part of walking in the footsteps of Edith Craig to direct the plays she directed for the Pioneer Players one hundred years ago.This play by Hrotsvit is considered to be the first ever play written.
