Tracking the Dys-Dance: Choreographing for the Dys-Utopia

Research output: Contributions to books, editions, reports or conference proceedingsChapter

Details

This contribution takes the approach of writer as time-traveller, and utilises the ability of text to transcend linear time. Just like the author’s dyspraxic and dyslexic neurodivergent mind, this text adopts a non-linear process of thought and spans present, past and future perspectives relating to Daniel Oliver’s notions of a world following a neurodivergent revolution. More specifically, this paper navigates fictional historic retellings from the future, past personal experience and present discourse of the writer relating to her field of dyspraxic choreography. Through loosely tracking Oliver’s ‘MAX Dyspraxe’s Neurodivergent Revolution Fun-Times’, this short text considers the potential consequential effect on choreographic and contemporary performance practices and philosophies post the neurodivergent revolution.
