AN EQUALITY & DIVERSITY PROJECT with BENEDICT PHILLIPS and THE ROYAL CONSERVATOIRE OF SCOTLAND.
Following her successful funding bid to the equality and diversity creative fund, Aby Watson project managed a 2-day event that brought Benedict Phillips to the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Phillips came to RCS to share his practice with his unique performance lecture, 3D THINKERS IN A 2D WORLD, and participatory workshop, HOW TO BE A DYSLEXIC ARTIST AND OTHER STORIES.
In the academic year 2016-2017, 13% of the students at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland declared themselves as dyslexic. It is clear that in this creative, vocational and artistic institution, dyslexic students are in a significant number. This project, funded by the equality and diversity creative fund, addresses this statistic by bringing prominent dyslexic artist Benedict Phillips to the conservatoire to share his practice and experience relating to dyslexia, art, thought and creativity.
