A presentation on the life and compositions for small brass ensemble
of Auguste Mimart in the context of the origins of chamber music for brass in mid-nineteenth century Paris. This includes connections to Jean Francois Bellon's quintets and the role of the military in the expansion of chamber music for brass instruments.
