Recorded at the Queens Hall in Edinburgh, the celebrated Castalian String Quartet performs one of Beethoven’s last works. With its original Grosse Fugue finale, this third Opus 130 quartet is the longest and most complex that Beethoven wrote. The fifth movement ‘Cavatina’ was considered such a significant piece of music, it was included on the Voyager spacecraft’s Golden Record.
