Celia Duffy

Senior KE Fellow

Biography

Celia is a reluctant academic but avid collaborator, pianist, song leader, coach, mentor and facilitator. As the first Director of Research and Knowledge Exchange at the RCS she played a key role in the conservatoire’s development as a research institution and the reform of its undergraduate curriculum. She was awarded a Professorship in 2010 and an Honorary Doctorate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2015.

Having held a position in Senior Management she now enjoys a freelance career as a researcher, expert reviewer and consultant. She is an experienced board chair of professional music organisations. Her current interests include institutional innovation and maximising the potential of knowledge exchange in the small specialist arts sector.

Otherwise she likes messing around in the water: wild swimming, fly fishing and sailing her vintage Nicholson 32 around the west coast of Scotland.
