Steven Tees

Stephen studied with Ceil Aronowtiz at the Royal College of Music in London, then with Peter Schidlof and Emanual Hurwirz, and he is still largely London-based. His vast experience in the music business include 13 years with the Amphion string Quartet, 14 years as a member of the Academy of St Martins in the Fields Chamber Ensemble, 25 years principal viola with the City of London Sinfonia, and Guest Principal with all the London Chamber Orchestras and 3 of the main Symphony Orchestras.

Other activities he has fitted in include several solo CD recordings with orchestra on the Chandos label, Duo tours with piano and with guitar, a busy commercial recording session schedule, and extensive off-the-platform work in community creative workshops ranging from Great Ormond Street Hospital school to using music to model Leadership and Teamwork with big global business organisations. He is a relaxed musician who these days is starting to explore the world of jazz viola!

For over 20 years he has enjoyed passing on his knowledge of playing the viola to the next generation at Trinity College of Music in London and now at the RCS in Glasgow.
