Tom MacNiven
Biography
Tom MacNiven was born in Glasgow and began playing music with the 118th Glasgow company of the Boys’ Brigade. Tom was a finalist in the 1997 Royal Sun Alliance Young Jazz Musician of the Year. He recorded his album Guess What? with special guest saxophonist Bobby Wellins the same year.
Tom is a much in-demand session player and has recorded with a range of musicians including The Pastels, Silicone Soul, Figure 5, Sharleen Spiteri, The Pearl Fishers and The Fred Quimby Quartet. He has toured with Hue & Cry, Tam White, Boz Burrell and Paul Towndrow.
Tom is a tutor in Jazz trumpet at the Royal Conservatoire.
