Diffusing Data Morgana

Diffusing mixed-media works in a large performance space requires the diffuser to be sensitive to a number of important issues. My 2012 composition 'Fata Morgana' plays on the relationship between real sound performed by the clarinetists and illusory sounds projected by loudspeakers.

This presentation will explore:

1. Space within the electroacoustic part
2. Space within the instrumental part
3. Combined spaces
4. How these spaces are realised through diffusion
5. How the spaces relate to the musical aspects at play in the work.
