This work assesses Compère's authorship of the cycle Ave Domine Jesu Christe, long attributed to him and published in the edition of his Complete Works. On the basis of stylistic analysis and a comparison with his other securely ascribed cycles, his authorship is rejected; it is instead proposed that the lack of ascription in its only source be allowed to stand,
