David Hubbard

Biography

David is a Bassoon tutor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

David moved to Glasgow in May 2004 to take up the position of principal bassoon with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

He has appeared as a soloist on 3 occasions with the RSNO since he joined the orchestra.

Previous to his move to Scotland, he spent some 12 years living and working in Spain. His first orchestral position was with the Orquesta Ciudad de Málaga, although he moved shortly after to join the Real Orquesta Sínfonica de Sevilla.

David very much enjoys teaching, and can often be seen coaching the bassoons of the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland or teaching on the Music Forward course in Scotland. He recently spent the day with the bassoons at the Junior Department of the Royal Academy of Music in London and Wells Cathedral School.

He also enjoys visiting other British orchestras. In the past year he has been in to guest as principal bassoon on a variety of occasions with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra.
